Birth is a natural process in a woman's life, it is not a sickness or medical emergency. With good health, preventative knowledge and careful monitoring, birth can be a safe and gentle experience for you and your baby. Birth Centers provide a perfect blend of comfort and safety that helps to ensure a gentle and healthy environment for the laboring mother and the newborn baby. We are staffed entirely by women who understand the needs and desires of pregnancy and birth. Physicians, Midwives, Doulas, Childbirth Educators and Lactation Consultants combine to produce a birth memory that you will cherish forever.
What is a Birth Center?
Because birth progresses safer without standard obstetrical interventions, birth centers are designed to work with a woman’s own body to allow gentle safe deliveries. At a birth center pregnant women are not treated like they are sick. Birth is a normal process in a woman’s life and it should be treated like a safe and miraculous event.
How is it different than a hospital?
Carolina WaterBirth is considered a freestanding birth center. This means that we are not affiliated with any hospital. Unlike hospitals, that actually make more money when a woman gets a cesarean or has a sick baby, we only deliver for healthy women and babies. It is to our and your benefit to keep women healthy. We specialize in preventive care by offering comprehensive childbirth education and plenty of face-to-face counseling.
Who works at Carolina WaterBirth? Licensed Midwives are the primary care providers at Carolina WaterBirth, but we also offer well-woman care with our wonderful CNM, Jackie Robins. Look for her information on our website.
